Review Process (External Evaluation)
The manuscript evaluation in the external review process is organized directly through the Managing Editor(s) of the respective journal volume rather than through the Copernicus Publications Editorial Support. Managing Editors are asked to:
- Collect the manuscripts from the authors which have to be prepared in accordance to the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines.
- Set deadlines for authors and inform Copernicus Publications accordingly to schedule the project.
- Use the Check-List for Reviewers
to collect the opinion of at least two referees and the Editor's Report Form
to summarize the result of the reviewing process for each manuscript separately.
- Inform each author about the outcome of the review of his/her manuscript.
- After the evaluation process, provide Copernicus Publications with a list including: manuscript number, title, authors, corresponding author (email), received date, revised date, accepted date, edited by, and reviewed by (names or number of anonymous referees).
- Forward the final version of the manuscript directly to the Publication Production Office. This should not be done by the authors to avoid ambiguity about the acceptance status.
Submission (External Evaluation)
For journal volumes with an external evaluation organized by the respective Managing Editor of that volume (see above), authors are asked to submit their manuscript directly to the editor. Please follow the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines. Besides the overall manuscript as *.pdf file (including abstract, text, figures, tables) for the review process, separated figure files and the text source files (*.tex or *.doc) are needed for the later publication production through Copernicus Publications.
